Get in touch with us with your ideas and suggestions. | Latest News 24 / 03 / 08 - BELFAST LIFESAVER MAKES NATIONAL SQUAD After setting 5 Irish Records, David Butler has made it onto the Ireland National Squad, with a view to compete in the World Championships in Germany this summer. The Irish squad begin their preparations this April in Dublin. Congratulations go to David in his groundbreaking progress, and for finally making a national selection! Patrick Bogue 15 / 03 / 08 - SPEEDS '08 The 2008 National Speed Championships were a great success for the club. We are delighted to announce a haul of over 70 medals. Our 2008 club captains, Conor O'Gorman and Caoimhe Sheppard led 10 lifesavers to place in the top U-18 overall results. Sarah Henderson, Ruairi Barr and Rachael Henderson made the top 3. Patrick Short, Emma Hartness, Ayman Nasr, Katharine O'Boyle, Mary Beth Toner, Tom Dowling and Matthew Cosgrove also made it onto this elite list. Congratulations go to all team members sterling performances this weekend. Official press release still to come. Full results are available from the RLSS competitions website. 14 / 03 / 08 - BELFAST OPEN CANCELLED Unfortunately Belfast Olympia LSC will not be in a position to hold the Open Speeds Championship at the Queen's University pool scheduled for 26th and 27th April 2008. This is due to Queen's being unable to provide the pool for sufficient time to run the competition. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused. Patrick Bogue. 27 / 02 / 08 - FUNDRAISING INITIATIVES Tesco bagpack raises grand total of £700. The money will go towards Team entry fees and travel costs. Another £170.75 was raised from the Club Table Quiz. Thanks go to all of the Parents who helped to organise these events for the Club. Well done! 26 / 02 / 08 - IRISH POOL CHAMPIONSHIPS Belfast Olympia guest teams competed in the first ever IWS pool championships. As guests of IWS, alongside 10 counties competing, our teams entered could not score individual or team points yet still raced for medals. David Butler managed 5 first place finishes and Ruth followed up with a well deserved first place in the Line Throw. Paddy came 3rd in the 100m Manikin Tow and the Belfast Mens team placed 3rd in the 4x25 Manikin carry relay. Congratulations also go to the Junior and Senior girls teams representing the club and thanks go to Margaret and Steve for helping to make the weekend a success. 14/ 12 / 07 - CRAWLEY OPEN Belfast Olympia competes in first ever Crawley Open. This prestigous event took place on the 1st December at the K2 Centre in Crawley. The 6 man team which included Jonathan Herald, Paddy Bogue, Ruth Butler, Caoimhe Shepherd, Ruiari Barr and Matthew Cosgrove, came in 9th place overall amongst 23 teams in the inter-club competition. Full results and photographs... 16/ 11/ 07 - BELFAST CHAMPIONSHIPSBelfast Speed Lifesaving Open planned. We are currently seeking to run a Short course Speed Lifesaving competition sometime in the future. The inter-club event is intended to raise the profile of the Sport locally. 11 / 11 / 07 - RLSS LIFESAVING CHAMPIONSHIPS Junior girls Nuala Bogue and Rachael Henderson compete and represent RLSS Ireland Region in the British Lifesaving nationals in Ponds Forge, Sheffield. The girls placed 9th overall and had a very enjoyable experience. Victoria College duo Jenna Orr and Sarah Henderson take gold in the Swim & Tow. Congratulations on both pairs achievements on reaching the Lifesaving finals.
